On 1 July 2015, the National Security Law of the people's Republic of China was adopted at the 15th Session of the Standing Committee of the 12th National people's Congress, and 15 April each year was designated as the National Security Education Day.
The National Security Education Day aims at raising public awareness of national security, creating a positive atmosphere of safeguarding national security, enhancing the capacity to fend off national security risks, deepening public understanding of the Constitution, the Basic Law and national security, and fostering a sense of national identity.
The 15th of April this year marks the 10th National Security Education Day. The 10th National Security Education Day thematic exhibition was launched on 18 March at the Hong Kong Museum of History, marking the beginning of a series of activities on national security education. The thematic exhibition adopts the national theme of "The 10th anniversary of National Security Education Day: advancing towards more in-depth and effective implementation", reflecting on the development of promoting national security education in the country and the HKSAR over the years. The exhibition is open to all Hong Kong citizens from 19 March onwards.
Apart from the thematic exhibition, the activities of the 2025 National Security Education Day also include National Security Education Day flag raising ceremony, open days of disciplined and auxiliary services, National Security Cup awards presentation ceremony of the disciplined services, opening ceremony of National Security Education Day, seminars, school workshops, etc. Meanwhile, community activities in the 18 districts across the territories and different activities organised by relevant Bureaux and Departments are being held in support of National Security Education Day. Open Daysof Disciplined and Auxiliary Services
To echo the 10th National Security Education Day, the Security Bureau's eight disciplined services and auxiliary services will hold open days in their training schools, museum, headquarters or divisional premises on different weekends and holidays in April to deepen the public's understanding of the services as well as their work and achievements in safeguarding national security through their open days and activities. Members of the public can register for free admission tickets via the relevant disciplined services' websites or mobile applications. Admission ticket is not required for the open days of the auxiliary services.
